The XIX National Congress of Philosophy of Law and Social Philosophy of the Colombian Association of Philosophy of Law and Social Philosophy (ASOFIDES), the IVR Colombian Section, was held from May 22 to 24, 2012. This great event was hosted on this occasion by the Universidad del Atlántico in the city of Barranquilla and was attended by professors and students from all regions of the country. The international speaker at the congress was the Spanish professor Gregorio Robles Morchón, who accompanied all the activities from start to finish. Moreover, this time the congress paid tribute to Professor Rafael Osorio Peña, who for decades became a central figure in the philosophy of law at the Universidad del Atlántico and transcended the national and international scene.
The central theme of the congress for its XIX version was “Democracy, memory and territory” and there were presentations and discussions that enriched the debate on the role that philosophy of law and social philosophy play in rethinking these three concepts.
The dean of the law school of the Universidad del Atlántico, Dr. Cristina Montalvo, thanked on behalf of the institution and the faculty of legal sciences for the election as venue, and said that the doors are open for students and professors.
Finally, Professor Sergio de Subiría Samper (Universidad de los Andes) was re-elected as president of the association for the period 2024-2025 and Professor Juan Pablo Sterling Casas (Uniautónoma del Cauca) as secretary.
