International Association for the Philosophy of Law and Social Philosophy

The International Association for Philosophy of Law and Social Philosophy (IVR) was founded in Berlin on 1 October 1909. The purpose of the Association is the cultivation and promotion of legal and social philosophy at both the national and the international level. The Association is open to all relevant scholarly disciplines. The Association, as well as its regional sections sections, shall organize congresses, lectures and other events of a similar nature. The sections are autonomous with respect to the organization of their events and also solely responsible for their financial affairs.

Our Story: Since 1968

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Our Mission

Our commitment to academic excellence is reflected in our publications, including the international journal Archiv für Rechts- und Sozialphilosophie (ARSP) and the IVR Encyclopedia of the Philosophy of Law and Social Philosophy. More than just an association, the IVR is a community of scholars dedicated to continually exploring the fundamental questions facing humanity. We welcome all academics to join us in shaping the future of legal and social philosophy.
